A Kosher Haven
Develop a Kosher Kitchen for cooking and frequent entertaining.
Utilise ‘family friendly’ Corian for the benchtop to allow for more hygienic cleaning and include as much storage as possible.
Incorporate floor to ceiling cupboards on one side, finished in Brushbox veneer to match existing cabinetry.
Since its launch in 1967, Corian is a material that has become a staple of Australian residential design. In this kitchen all the benchtops are exclusively made of Corian. This means they are renewable and can be fully restored with ordinary mild abrasive cleansers and a scouring pad. (Burns, for example, can be easily removed in this way). Colours and textures run through the entire thickness of the material and cannot wear away, so the benchtops will never delaminate. Surface wireless charging for all smart devices is also possible by integrating a concealed transmitter unit to create user-friendly work and living areas.
To accommodate kosher practice, the kitchen design incorporates separate sinks for meat and poultry meals and a separate area where fish, dairy or vegetarian dishes can be prepared. Oversized, extra-wide soft-close drawers and storage spaces are integrated in the design plan, enabling maximum space utilisation on both sides of the kitchen island. As “a place for everything and everything in its place” was part of the brief, hidden drawers in usually unused cavities are created. Every small nook and cranny is utilised. An island benchtop curve on one side is a major design feature. Ingeniously hidden in a cupboard when not in use, a clever pot pourer is incorporated next to the cooktop to save heavy transfer of filled pots. And being made of Corian, there is a rolled cove splashback to bench which can be effortlessly and hygienically cleaned and maintained. Other features include bifold doors, cutlery and utensil inserts, concealed bin, Lemans 500 Classic spice racks and for some additional theatre, LED daylight strip lights running along the perimeter of the cupboards.
Two wall ovens, a fridge and freezer are integrated into floor to ceiling cupboards, housing pantry, small appliance and crockery items. This becomes a majestic feature wall, finished in brush box veneer, as the client desired. Owing to the very large surface dimensions, it was only after scouring suppliers throughout the Country that we finally managed to find pieces large enough to cover the surfaces from top to bottom in one piece, and yes, without a join in sight.
The entire living area is transformed with a large, family- friendly preparation and serving area, created to be as elegant as it is practical. With a kitchen so regularly put through its paces, the clients are delighted, and they simply love their new environment, endorsed by family and friends.
